Michelle Bottomley - Chief Marketing Officer

Michelle is Staples’ Chief Marketing Officer, responsible for driving profitable growth through bold and innovative marketing strategies. She leads the Staples Marketing team in representing the "voice of the customer", stewarding the Staples brand and developing targeted marketing programs that move the revenue needle. In her role, she and her team are leveraging analytics and technology to profitably grow customer relationships. She is a key partner to envision and co-create the next generation omni-channel experience for Staples.

Most recently Michelle was Global Chief Marketing and Sales Officer at Mercer, a consulting firm in New York City, where she helped double client revenue growth rate every year for three years. She has also served as Chief Marketing Officer for Barclay Card, one of the top five global credit card companies and supported AmEx Open, the premier B2B credit card for many years.

She started her career at Digitas and Epsilon, two well-respected digital and database marketing firms. After that, she served as Chief Operating Officer at advertising, marketing and public relations agency Oglivy and Mather for 10 years.

Michelle sits on the Board of Directors for both the Bose Corporation and Society For Human Resource Management (SHRM). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northeastern university.
